Top entry ball valves have a single-piece body with a bolted bonnet (or pressure seal closure): internals are accessed from the top, so the valve can be inspected and maintained without removing it from the line. This design is preferred where welding the valve into the pipeline is required, or where in-line maintainability is a project requirement — typically on risers, subsea tie-ins and critical process lines.

Valland supplies models A31, A32, A63 and A64, designed to API 6D or API 6A. Double block and bleed and double isolation barrier (DIB) configurations are available, together with SIL certification up to SIL 3. Valland also designs and supplies dedicated special tools that allow customers to disassemble and reassemble top entry valves in line, in horizontal or vertical position, with operator training available.

Reference projects include top entry ball valves in cast duplex/super duplex for the AkerBP Hugin A riser, subsea top entry valves with full hyperbaric testing for the Hess Malay Basin Phase 4 inline tee (Malaysia, API 6DSS, 70 m water depth) and high-temperature top entry valves for the Sheghong project in China.
