Mechanical Valve

One of the engineering challenges Valland faced was the design and production of a double ball valve light enough to be handled by hand on an offshore platform, with the additional requirement of connecting to a threaded pipeline without rotating the valve itself.

The valve was produced in titanium, limiting its weight to 16 kg, and the pipeline connection was solved with a threaded 3" swivel connection weighing 3.5 kg — keeping the assembly within the maximum allowed weight of 20 kg. The valve is used for the insertion and extraction of corrosion probes on lines under pressure.
