Model B11
The slab gate valve (model B11) uses a single-piece gate with a full circular bore, running between two floating, spring-loaded metal-to-metal seats. Line pressure pushes the gate against the downstream seat, providing the seal; in open position the conduit is completely unobstructed, allowing pigging and minimizing pressure drop and turbulence.
Compared with expanding designs, the slab gate offers a shorter face-to-face, lower weight and lower cost, while keeping the advantages of the through conduit concept. It is widely used on transmission pipelines, launcher/receiver stations and wellhead applications under API 6A — including high pressure classes up to API 10.000 psi, as supplied to Hess for the Scott field development in the UK North Sea.
Valland slab gate valves are designed to API 6D, API 6DSS or API 6A, with bolted bonnet, back seat for in-line stem seal maintenance, and manual (handwheel or gearbox) or actuated operation.
