Ongoing R&D

R&D is a continuous activity at Valland. The engineering team — seven engineers working entirely in-house on Solid Edge and ANSYS — merges field-proven experience with computer-aided design, performing Finite Element Analysis, blast load verification, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and Safety Analysis Reports (SAR) for the complete valve range.

The R&D process is deliberately interactive: Valland encourages the direct participation of the client’s technicians and engineers, working together to define the best valve configuration for each individual requirement. This is how tailor-made valves achieve ultimate reliability and safety for the end user.

Beyond valve design, current research lines include additive manufacturing of valve components and sealing elements (through the Valland3D division), materials compatibility studies — with white papers published on the subject — and the development of valves for the hydrogen value chain. Since 2008 the company has maintained API 6A, API 6D and API 6DSS monograms, and its designs have achieved SIL 2/3 certification per IEC 61508, fire safe qualification per ISO 10497, API 6FA and API 607, and fugitive emission qualification per ISO 15848-1 and 2.
